Are you a fan of the Fast & Furious franchise? If so, get ready to experience digital collectibles thanks to Mattel’s Hot Wheel’s NFT Garage x Fast & Furious collection! 🔥
Mattel, a renowned toy company, has joined forces with Universal Pictures and Bandai Namco to introduce a collection of five legendary cars from the Fast & Furious franchise in the form of non-fungible tokens (NFTs). NFTs are digital assets that utilize blockchain technology and can be bought, sold, and traded on digital marketplaces. This exciting venture by Mattel allows fans to own their very own piece of the Fast & Furious universe.
With a rich history in producing popular toy collections like Hot Wheels and Barbie, veteran toy maker Mattel launched the Hot Wheels Fast & Furious NFT garage series on May 22 at 09:00 PT. This release follows the recent drop of the Hot Wheels NFT Garage Series 5.
The Hot Wheels NFT Garage x Fast & Furious collection :
The Hot Wheels NFT Garage x Fast & Furious collection showcases cars from different installments of the franchise, including the iconic 1970 Dodge Charger driven by Dominic Toretto, the 1969 Camaro driven by Brian O’Conner, and Suki’s Honda S2000. These NFTs were sold in packs for $25 each and quickly sold out on the website. They are now hosted on the Flow Blockchain.
According to the information available on Mattel Creations’ website, the NFTs are available in various rarities, such as common, uncommon, rare, super rare, ultra rare, and exclusive. Each pack contains seven NFTs, consisting of four Basic, two Epic, and one from the other four rarity types.
NFTs, by their nature, are assets tokenized on a blockchain, providing them with unique identification codes and metadata. Similarly, Hot Wheels has established itself as a brand of distinctive collectibles, having produced over 20,000 unique die-cast models over the years. With the NFT Garage collection, Mattel has taken a significant leap from physical to digital collectibles, appealing to a new generation of fans and collectors.
Drawing parallels to the recent collaboration between Boss Beauties and Barbie, the Fast & Furious project offers an opportunity for collectors to acquire a physical die-cast version of Suki’s car by successfully gathering the complete set. This further bridges the divide between the physical and digital realms.
In addition to this venture, just a few weeks ago, Mattel partnered with OnChain Studios to introduce a series of digital collectibles called Cryptoys. Inspired by Star Wars, these collectibles were launched in celebration of the unofficial Star Wars holiday on May 4.
Focus on Mattel :
The story of Mattel is one of innovation, creativity, and the pursuit of creating beloved toys that have captured the hearts of children and collectors worldwide.
Mattel was founded in 1945 by Harold “Matt” Matson and Elliot Handler in Southern California. Initially, the company produced picture frames, but it soon shifted its focus to creating toys. One of its first successful products was a musical toy called the “Uke-A-Doodle,” which gained popularity during the post-war era.
In 1959, Mattel introduced one of its most iconic and enduring brands, Barbie. Created by Ruth Handler, the wife of Elliot Handler, Barbie revolutionized the doll industry with her adult-like figure, fashion-forward clothing, and diverse range of careers. Barbie quickly became a cultural phenomenon and a symbol of empowerment for girls around the world.
Mattel continued its success by launching other iconic brands. In 1968, they introduced Hot Wheels, a line of die-cast toy cars with fast-moving wheels and intricate designs. Hot Wheels became an instant hit and remains a favorite among collectors and car enthusiasts.
Over the years, Mattel expanded its portfolio by acquiring popular franchises and licensing agreements. They secured the rights to produce toys based on popular characters from movies, television shows, and video games, including Disney, DC Comics, WWE, and many more.
In addition to their traditional toys, Mattel embraced technological advancements and ventured into interactive and digital experiences. They introduced toys that incorporated virtual reality, augmented reality, and smart technologies, providing children with innovative ways to play and learn.
Throughout its history, Mattel has faced challenges and undergone transformations to stay relevant in an ever-changing market. They have prioritized quality, safety, and sustainability in their products, ensuring that children can enjoy their toys in a safe and responsible manner.
Today, Mattel continues to inspire imagination and create cherished memories with its wide range of toys, games, and collectibles. With a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and the power of play, Mattel remains a beloved and influential brand in the toy industry, shaping the childhoods of generations around the world.
